New ceo at Vita helm

The Vita Group has appointed American Joe Menendez as group chief executive officer with immediate effect in succession to John Oliver, who took the role on an interim basis in late 2006. Oliver will relinquish his executive responsibilities but will remain on the Vita board as non-executive chairman.

Menendez joins Vita from Saint Gobain, where he was most recently president of the French group’s Abrasives business, having joined with its acquisition of Corhart Refractories. He is a trained chemist with a subsequent MBA and is fluent in French and Spanish. Resident in France for the past five years, he will now move to London.

John Oliver said: “Joe has a fantastic track record in leading global industrial businesses; his analytical skills are backed with pragmatism and strong operational experience.”

He added: “Joe has demonstrated the ability to lead diverse businesses and quickly transition between industries. This is an ideal background to drive accelerating profitable growth.”
