Bookings for Asiamold 2008 Up Sharply

As of May, so many companies had confirmed their participation as exhibitors at Asiamold 2008, the second edition of the Guangzhou International Trade Fair for Moldmaking and Tooling, Design and Application Development, that the organizers were confident the 2008 event would double the size of the premiere in 2007. The show takes place September 24–26 at the Guangzhou International Convention & Exhibition Centre in Guangzhou (Canton), China.

Asiamold is organized by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co. in cooperation with DEMAT GmbH and the Hong Kong Mould & Die Council.

The organizers expect nearly 400 exhibitors to set up displays in the exhibition centre come September. They project that 20,000 m² of floor space will be occupied by exhibits, and that some 15,000 visitors will attend the fair. So far, exhibitors from nearly a dozen countries have signed up. More overseas companies seem to be joining the show this year.

Moreover, the number of mould making companies at Asiamold 2008 should exceed last year’s benchmark. Around 100 had signed up already before May. More than 20 members of the Hong Kong Mould & Die Council have confirmed their participation, according to the council chair, Mr. Tao Wai Hung.

Alfred Au, vice chairman of the council, notes also that the 800 overseas visitors at the first Asiamold testifies to the quick, successful establishment of the Asiamold brand name, and he implies that that number should be exceeded this year. “On top of being an international and professional one-stop platform for sourcing,” he explains, “Asiamold provides an invaluable opportunity for industry practitioners to exchange technical knowledge and look for business leads and partners.”

The concurrent Asiamold Forum returns in 2008, with the theme “Innovation and Automation.” Papers on innovative techniques for mould and die sourcing, marketing concepts for developing new business, technology for mould making, software, and the use of materials have been called for, while desired automation topics include engineering and design, virtual reality and simulation, mould shop automation, industrial automation and the use of robots, and the application of automation in precision mould making and automotive mould making.
